When Scripps decided to cancel the National Spelling Bee last year due to COVID pandemic, many spellers were disappointed. Shobha and Shourav took the initiative to conduct a National Online Spelling Bee the same week as the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May 2020. This online event received many kudos from spellers, parents, and media and started a new era of online spelling bee events!
